JUNE, THE MONTH OF BIG SUMMER CELEBRATIONS
We have only a few weeks left to the biggest feast of the Nordic summer – the Midsummer.
Not all have the possibility to celebrate it the Nordic way: in a cottage by a lake or sea, fighting the mosquitos and in the worst case hiding indoors from the rain. For you who want to stay in the secure (??!!) sunshine and warmth we offer even this year the traditional Midsummer delicacies.
But before that we celebrate the National Day of Sweden. This year it is special! It is 500 years since Gustav Vasa was elected king, the election that laid the foundation of Sweden as an independent state.
2023 truly is a jubilee year for Sweden
In 1523, on 6th June to be exact, Gustav Vasa was elected King of Sweden. Sweden left the so-called Kalmar Union with Denmark and Norway, and once again became independent.
Under King Gustav Vasa, the Protestant Reformation was introduced and the church was nationalised. During King Gustav Vasa’s reign, Sweden would also lay the foundations of the strong central governance it would develop over centuries to come. Read more about the Swedish War of Liberation.
Not only as the country boasts 500 years worthy of a celebration. 2023 is a year with more than one Swedish milestone, featuring everything from royals and opera to rollercoasters and the Nobel Prize Banquet.

The whole Midsummer selection is now presented in the webshop and open for pre orders. For guaranteed availability your order should be placed as soon as possible but latest 2nd June. The price for new potatoes is still only an estimation. Should the final price be less we will credit you in a later stage. Please note also that some of the products, for example whole fillets of smoked fish are only available on pre order.
Fresh from the kitchen
is available according to the normal schedule. Right now we the 100 % rye bread and Carelian pasties. Cinnamon rolls are steaming hot around 11:30 each day.
AT YOUR SERVICE
from Tuesday to Saturday 10:00-13:30 and 15:30-19:00
and baking something fresh every day.
During Midsummer week we will be open normally!
By arrival with private vehicle the closest parking is the “La Poste” with entrance just in front of us on rue Vauban, outdoor parking and the garage “Pré-des-Pêcheurs” in the harbour.
