Hartwall Original Long Drink, Lonkero as the Finns call it, is a crisp mixed drink that blends the refreshing taste of gin with the tang of grapefruit.
The beverage was launched at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki. It came in bottles, making it fast and easy for restaurants to serve to thirsty Olympic visitors. Originally the idea was to produce Lonkero only during the Olympics, but it proved so popular that production continued and it was soon sold in Alko-shops throughout Finland. Ever since it first appeared, Original Long Drink has been part of the Finnish identity. It is so important that it continues year after year to be the number one top selling brand at Alko. Lonkero is still produced according the orginal recipe by mixing gin with grapefruit.
