Yellow pea soup is a very traditional Swedish dish, served on Thursdays with pancakes and jam for dessert. It is usually eaten with some mustard, often accompanied by crisp bread and often with the sweet liquor punsch (flaggpunch, served hot). Soldatens Ärtsoppa (“Soldier’s Pea Soup”) contains an extra amount of pork and one tin makes for around 8 dl of soup.

Just add 2,5 dl (half the tin) of water and bring to the boil.
